How does one start a new solo career? By making a new music video filmed in New Orleans. Here is lead singer Hamilton Leithauser of The Walkmen kicking off his new career in his video, “11 O’ Clock Friday Night”.
Looking forward to the debut album!!
*Edited: Actually, this is Ham’s second video

The Black Keys NEW single “Fever”.
If you live in New Orleans, people are going to come visit you (as they completely should!) — whether you like it or not — and you’re inevitably going to have to try and rectify their horrendous misconceptions. Helping you do that, here’s a primer on the things you’ll need to explain.
1. It’s pronounced “New OAR-linz”
Not “New Or-LEENZ” and certainly not “N’awlins.” No one says that. Ever. We don’t know where that came from, but it’s silly, and if you try it, people will laugh at you and/or look at you funny.
2. We do not use cardinal directions
Directions are thus: Uptown, Downtown, River, Lake. If you ask us if your hotel is “north of here”, we’ll have no idea what you’re talking about.
3. That broad, grassy expanse of terrain between the two lanes of a boulevard is called the “neutral ground”
There’s some history behind that. A “median” has something to do with statistics, but we’re not exactly sure.
4. And that big shiny green or red thing that runs on tracks down the neutral ground and makes excellent “wooka wooka wooka” sounds? It’s a “streetcar”.
15. Mardi Gras, i.e. Carnival

Only in N’awlins will there be an all female brass band playing between band sets. It should be an industry standard, right? #nola #brassband #girlpower #neworleans #thewalkmen (at One Eyed Jacks)
